Sporting Houses

We aim to promote school spirit and sportsmanship in students through friendly House competition. A special participation trophy is awarded to the House that has the most student involvement across all carnivals. This encourages all students to participate regardless of their sporting ability.

Sporting Houses at Canowindra High School are named after infamous Bushrangers that lived and roamed in the Central West area. They were at one stage all part of the same gang. These Bushrangers were Ben Hall, Johnny Gilbert and Farnk Gardiner.

HALL (colour-blue): Ben Hall was a well known bushranger within this area. Ben Hall held up the town of Canowindra.

GILBERT (colour-green): Johnny Gilbert was the youngest of these three bushrangers and was the most ruthless.

GARDINER (colour-red): Frank Gardiner was the only one not killed trying to avoid capture. He was exiled to the USA.
