Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
NAIDOC Day
Our First Nations leaders designed a day filled with fun, food, and cultural activities for our small schools network:
- Manildra Public School
- Cargo Public School
- Cudal Public School
- Gooloogong Public School
- Eugowra Public School
Our leaders also prepared 180 Lemon Myrtle cheesecakes and 150 custom-designed bush-tucker inspired strawberry and wild hibiscus ice-creams to commemorate 50 years of NAIDOC celebrations in Australia.
Celebrating 150 years of Public Education in Canowindra
A special ceremony was held at Canowindra High School to officially launch the new publication The Past Fifty Years of Public Education in Canowindra: 1975–2025.
The event marked the culmination of a significant community project celebrating five decades of local public education.
ANZAC Day
Canowindra High School students represented their school with pride at the town’s ANZAC Day service.
As has become tradition, April 25 began bright and early for our senior leaders, who once again volunteered their time to assist with the Gunfire Breakfast following the Dawn Service.
Athletics Carnival
Canowindra High School holds an annual Athletics Carnival.
Students turn out strong creating an energetic atmosphere and highlighted their enthusiasm to run, jump, and throw in pursuit of valuable points for their house teams.
Do it for Dolly Day
At Canowindra High School, participation in awareness days has become more than a fundraising exercise—it is an opportunity for students to reflect on the impact of their words and actions, learn strategies to support one another, and build a culture where everyone feels safe and respected.
On Do It for Dolly Day, students and staff dress in blue, join together for assemblies and activities promoting kindness, and raise funds for Dolly’s Dream, an organisation dedicated to preventing bullying and supporting young people’s wellbeing. These events encourage students to speak up, seek help when needed, and look out for their peers.
Orange Field Days
Canowindra High School students had the opportunity to broaden their understanding of modern agriculture when they attended the annual Orange Field Days. The event, one of the region’s largest showcases of agricultural innovation, provided students with hands-on learning experiences and valuable insights into careers within the primary industries sector.
Swimming Carnival
Canowindra High School students made a big splash at this year’s annual Swimming Carnival. The event brought together students across all year levels, showcasing their swimming skills, sportsmanship, and team spirit.
Students competed in a variety of races, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and medley relays, with points awarded for both participation and performance. House teams battled it out for top honours, cheering on teammates and celebrating personal achievements throughout the day
"We love our school for its supportive community and commitment to every student’s success. Our child feels safe and inspired every day.” — a parent of Canowindra High School
